Xiong Jiatian, courtesy name Deqing, self-titled as “ChongWenTangRen”, is a famous Chinese contemporary art artist, National Gift Artist, a fellow of the Chinese Academy of Calligraphy and Painting, professor of the Calligraphy Department of the Calligraphy and Painting Art Institute of the Chinese Yinglian Association, a member of the Hubei Calligraphers Association, and the honorary president of the Southeastern Hubei Patriotic Education Calligraphy and Painting Institute.

He loved calligraphy since childhood and studied the art of calligraphy assiduously for decades. Back then, he has the honor of learning in person from Mr. Shen Peng, the former chairman of the Chinese Calligraphers Association, and many other masters of calligraphy. Mr. Shen wrote a comment and recognized Xiong’s achievements in calligraphy. At the beginning of learning calligraphy, he started with the regular script of the Jin and Tang Dynasties and imitated the style of Ouyang Xun, Wang Xizhi, Yan Zhenqing, Liu Gongquan, Zhao Mengfu, and other calligraphers from Ming and Qing Dynasties, therefore formed his unique artistic temperament.

Xiong’s calligraphy works have won awards in various national calligraphy competitions, been auctioned in charitable events and auctions, and been collected by domestic and foreign friends, collectors, and halls. He has been awarded the honorary titles of “Chinese Contemporary Artist with the Most Investment and Collection Value”, “Master of Calligraphy and Painting and Role Model in the International Cultural Industry”, and “China National Gift Artist” by the authoritative organizations of the Ministry of Culture of China.
